A sample of my papers and presentations I submitted to the Online Clinical Mental Health program at Seattle University. My focus is on worker mental health in corporate spaces.
I review existing literature on the effect of neoliberalist capitalism on worker mental health. While the main findings are in line with stereotypical assumptions regarding capitalism fatigue, I found it surprising how neoliberalist ideologies can be internalized and play out in the ways we approach "self care" in the workplace.
I present symptomology, cultural/clinical implications, and advocacy ideas on the intersection of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and trans/gender non-conforming (TGNC) individuals. A meta-analysis found that the prevalence of ASD in TGNC is about 11%, which is 11x higher than the prevalence of ASD in the general population (1%).
I propose an advocacy project where counselors partner with corporate employee resource groups (ERGs). We need to understand the unique opportunities to improve workplace mental health. This needs to be done at a systemic/institutional level rather than placing all the burden on the individual worker.
